rain stuttered on the sill
the cat yawned
and the funeral mass
hiccuped on the tape
i haven't bothered to wipe
the blood off my hands
i just keep rolling
the last drop in the cup
like a bead of mercury
fatly juiced and almost pinchable
a mirror gone soft
reflecting an internal orbit
of memory, the stain of mood.
