old punks dont die
we just keep dyeing
i tell people
when they snicker
niiiiice haaaaair
the comments havent changed
in fifteen plus
years
an old punk doesnt die
she just keeps dyeing
rinsing a little rit
in with the laundry
washing away todays
soft spring pastels
and seventies earth tones
for black and red
and combat green
my chains may only rattle
when i pull open the
dresser drawer
and anarchy may be just another
phat symbol
on someones
lollapalooza tee shirt
punk may have become
some kitschy vaseline smeared
em tee vee memory
hosted by cyndi lauper
but old punks dont die
we thrash in our thin sheets
and wake up too fast
because even in our sleep
we are burning
with technicolor dreams
of confrontation
too bright and vigorous
for buyer friendly boomers
or pepsi generation next
old punks dont die
we just keep on
dyeing
