1, 3, 5, 7, 9...
count to a thousand and I am yours?
on my knees to you covered in dust?
toe to toe is better, but for you & for your gift, on my knees, then... to drink from the lattice-work of your veins...
m'sieur marcel...sweeter than a double mocha, stronger than day old-espresso...undiluted and sticky-sweet...
on my knees, then...
covered in diamond dust.
...sapphire blue lips on your wrist, teeth like rubies (more rrrrrred, occluded gems now from your blood), emerald eyes glint, my wirey gold hair a firey halo...semi-precious metal...opalescent skin ripples with soft colors...pink and blue and green and lavender...pearls for fingernails, for toenails...I have the moon and the sea at my fingertips always...
the jewel at your feet...
but the jeweler knows just where to tap to make me shatter like glass...
but...why count to a thousand?
we are each other.
As the Beautiful South said:
closer than a sister to her baby brother
closer than a cat to the child that she'll smother
we are each other
we are each other
what can I give to you, marcel, my second self?
(who's pockets hold more than a magician's? mine, of course)
I pull out...
...a book of matches, 2 keys on a ring, silver coins, a survival knife, a gold ring, candy wrappers, a soda pop top, an old lipstick, a piece of wire, my lucky penny, an ad from a newspaper, a dead beetle, a fragment of a poem scribbled on a napkin, a broken watchband, a tooth, a piece of the sky, some faery dust, and here, oh here!
...a pocketful of stars!
I heap my treasures in your hands and throw the stars up around us.
We are covered in stars.
Laugh, ren. Smile, marcel. Breathe in the stars...
...and still, and yet, covered in diamond dust with the stars dripping off my bangs, settling on the collar of your shirt...I will hold out my opalescent arms, shot through with aquamarine veins...
shining like a diamond
like a penny-candy star
laugh, and drink from me, marcel.
smile, and drink from me, ren.
with stars in my pocket like grains of sand...
