When I grow up, I want to be Jackie Chan:
Small and strong,
a carved, wooden body
embued with animal grace.
When I jump I want to fly.
The Monkey-King will
pull my invisible strings
just like Jackie.
I want to be able to turn anything
to my purpose:
shopping carts, ladders, trash-can lids.
I want to beat the shit out of the bad guys
with a comical look on my face
as if to ask:
"How did I get here?"
I want to protect the girls
(always someone's "younger sister"
or "uncle's daughter")
with my clownish sternness--
I want everything I do
to be touched with
bemusement,
joy and justice.
Then, when I die
the Monkey-King will take me to his arms, crying:
"Child of my heart! Come to me!
The game has just begun:
all of heaven and earth are before us, now."
