Words on a page
fail to describe
The life, the love, the loss
Never again to see your face
Never again your tears to taste
Gone from this world and into the next
Living on only in my memories
Never again to laugh and race
Never again to feel your embrace
A final service in your memory
nothing can fill the void within
Never again to shield you from fright
Never again to hold you tight
Distant but not forgotten
A piece of my heart was buried with you
Never again to see you smile or cry
Never again to live or die
Only my crystalline tears remain.
Its cerulean hue reflects the opalescence of ocean waves,
Capturing the kaleidoscope of colors shining behind your starlit eyes.
A simple complexity, paradigm of lies.
No kind sweet kisses does it grant to parched lips,
Not a drop of dew to wet the sun-soaked fields
As once did your satin lips playing softly across mine.
Tears fall silently into the crystalline abyss.
No solace from its shallow depths.
Unrequited emotions dissipate without a sound.
The security of your heartfelt embrace but a dream.
Only memories does this anodyne revive,
L'Eau de la Vie a cruel poet's lie.
The warmth it gives a mere match in a blizzard
compared with the joy of your gentle caress.
Firey bitterness rains in its wake.
Tearing at my gullet with a conniver's guile.
Betrayed at last by my former confidant
leaving only a yearning for you.
Alone amongst my shattered feelings,
pieces of pellucid glass spread about the room.
You're all I ever wanted
In my final moments of lucidity.
